The Catholic church has gotten a lot of attention in the media over the past 10 to 15 years. It’s not the kind of attention they want, either.
Unless you’ve been hiding underneath a rock, you’ve heard of the priesthood rocking the foundation of the church. Many people were coming forward and saying that their priest had sexually molested them – to some degree or another. What’s even more disturbing is the fact that these assaults were on minors – mainly boys.
I’m actually shocked to see that the church survived such a media beat-down. Hollywood recently got in the mix and made the movie, Spotlight. (I haven’t seen it yet, but I’m really intrigued. I know it was up for a number of awards this year.) The film goes into the Catholic church’s cover-up of these issues.
That’s right, the church knew about these issues before they even came to light. All these perverts had to do was jump on their computer and go to a site like this, and save a little money. Save a little money and get your rocks off. Why hurt innocent young children.
For me, I’ve lost my drive to go to church. I once was very gun-ho, but over the years my faith has been rocked by such stories. I still go to church and take my family there (because I believe they need a good foundation to make their own decisions). Maybe someday I’ll have more focus.
